Flag Football MVP of the Week

Congratulations again, Riley! He is playing flag football for the first time (except for pick-up games with friends), and he was named MVP of the week after the first game! I am so proud of him! He had 3 interceptions and 2 touchdowns. He was nervous about playing for the first time, but that gave him a little more confidence. He is such a great kid. I am glad he had a great week with this and the Lego contest. Good job, Riley! I am very proud of you!

Congratulations, Riley!

The kids participated in the NAWIC Block Kids competition on Saturday. It is basically a Lego building contest. They are given 100 blocks and 1 hour to build something. They are competing against kids in their own grades. Amelia built a clock tower, Landin built the Twin Towers, and Riley built a robot. Riley won 1st place for his grade and the grand prize overall! He won a $100 savings bond, and he was very excited! It was the last year he was eligible, so it made it that much better. I have to say that I was so proud of Amelia and Landin, too. They were such good sports about the whole thing. They clapped and cheered for their friends that won, and they were even more excited for Riley.

Happy 9th Birthday, Amelia!

Today is Amelia's 9th birthday. I cannot believe she is 9! She had a rough week with the pneumonia and high fevers, but started feeling better just in time to continue with her birthday party. We were very concerned about the winter storm that was moving in, but we decided to go ahead with her party anyway. Aunt Kim is a professional photographer, so we had a glamour shots party at her studio. She invited her cousins and a couple close friends. The girls had so much fun! I took a few pics myself while Aunt Kim took them of each girl. I will post a few of mine now and then post the REAL pics when she gets done with them. Thanks Aunt Kim, you rock!!!!

Tis the season...

for sickness! We started off Christmas Eve with Riley having strep. He has had cold symptoms and a cough since then. New Year's Day I had a high fever and cough. I ended up with bronchitis. Saturday I picked Amelia up from Grandma's house and she had a high fever. She started coughing and has had a fever and cough ever since. We started breathing treatments and ibuprofen. This morning Amelia's fever was still 103, so I made an appointment with Dr. Mark. Riley started complaining that his ear was really hurting, so I took him in, too. Amelia has pneumonia, and Riley has an ear infection. Amelia is upset because her birthday is Saturday and she doesn't want to be sick. It wouldn't be the first time she was sick on her birthday! I told her that things could be much worse! Hopefully we'll kick the germs soon (I have disinfected the place numerous times)!
