Back to normal - whatever that is!
Landin is feeling so much better, and we are back to our normal routine. He played basketball this week, and participated in gym class. It was nice to get back to our busy normal life! I love taking the kids to their activities and watching them participate. It is a crazy life sometimes, but I wouldn't have it any other way! I missed taking them to things during Landin's 2 week recovery. God has blessed me with a wonderful life!

Feelin' a little better
Landin is feeling a little bit better today. He actually got off of the couch and played with Amelia today for about an hour. He was very tired though and was not happy that we had to drop Riley off at football practice and Amelia at ballet. He kept asking me when we could go home.
Landin and I watched some home videos while we were hanging out on the couch this week. I was reminded of how strong my 7 year old is. When I was pregnant with him and didn't feel him moving inside me, I was told that he would probably not survive until he was born. Yet as soon as they pulled him out during the C-section, he cried. Then he surprised everyone and didn't need to be put on a ventilator or on oxygen. He was moved from the critical side of the NICU to the progressive side after only one week because he was doing so well. He was even dismissed at 1 month old weighing only 3lbs 6 oz!
God has answered so many prayers in regard to this adorable little boy. He made him strong. He blessed us with this loving, energetic boy who doesn't complain when he is sick or hurt.

An Update on my update
Well, we ended up in the ER again last night. They gave Landin another IV with antibiotics and steroids. They did some blood tests, also. The blood cultures won't be back until tomorrow or Wednesday, but they said his white blood count was high. His lungs sounded clear, so that was really good. They said that his throat was very swollen. We thought that it was because he was barely moving his neck. About 30 minutes after they gave him the steroid, he was smiling and playing with cars. That was the first time in a week that he wanted to play with anything. He also asked for chocolate milk, so the Physician's assistant went and found him some. Since he was showing improvement, they decided to send us home. They told him that if he didn't take his medicine and keep drinking fluids, he would end up back at the hospital for IV fluids. We finally got back home around midnight.
Today he is doing so much better! We are still giving him breathing treatments and motrin. He still looks pale and has dark circles around his eyes. I was excited that he drank more chocolate milk today, he ate a few spoons full of pudding, and he ate a couple french fries and bites of cheeseburger! That is huge! He hasn't eaten that much all week! I hope he continues to get better! It has been a long week, and I am just very thankful that he is improving. Thank you for praying for him! God is good at answering prayers!

Just not himself
Update: Landin was sent to the ER today by the doctor on call. They gave him IV fluids, IV antibiotics, and did some blood work. They let us come home tonight, but I have to check in with the doctor tomorrow. When I was putting him to bed tonight, I realized that he has a fever - again! He still isn't eating, but he did eat some ice chips tonight - yeah! Please pray that we will have a good night. Last night he was coughing, then started crying, then his lips turned purple. He freaked Amelia out, but I was able to calm him down and give him a breathing treatment. I hope tonight goes much better!

Anyone who knows Landin knows that this is not him! He did pretty well on Monday - eating and drinking a little. Tuesday morning he woke up with fever of 101. He had coughed all night. He started throwing up and his fever went up to 103.6. I had to take him to the Doctor to make sure he wasn't bleeding. The doctor changed his antibiotic and told us to keep up with the breathing treatments. Since Tuesday he has eaten about 5 spoons of ice cream, a popsicle, 3-4 spoons of chicken broth, and about 5-6 spoons of egg drop soup. He has lost 6 pounds since Monday, and he has no desire to eat! That is definitely not him! He usually eats and eats and eats! Last night he coughed so violently that he felt like he couldn't breathe. Then he started crying which made him cough more. I spent from 12 - 4 AM sitting upright, holding him up so he didn't cough. After that I propped him up on pillows to sleep. I was giving him ibuprofen every 6 hours and breathing treatments every 4. Please pray that he will feel better soon. I can't imagine having a sore throat, throwing up, and then coughing for days.

Landin's surgery
Landin had surgery this morning to remove his tonsils and adenoids and to place tubes in his ears (again - for the 5th time)! He has had trouble with sleep apnea, and his tonsils and adenoids were very large. He did very well during the surgery and in recovery, but he had some trouble with nausea (sorry, Landin - you get that from me). I took a couple of pictures of him in recovery. He is home now and is watching Wall-E.
